Muchas veces quienes estamos involucrados con esta actividad llegamos a ella por mera casualidad o en ocasiones nos vamos forjando el camino hasta lograr vivir de lo que amamos hacer.
Les quiero compartir la experiencia de mi amigo Gabriel, quién nos cuenta en el podcast su inclinación hacia el turismo y a su vez como en la actualidad se desempeña como docente de inglés.
Su padre en realidad quería que siga medicina, una de las carreras más tradicionales en el país, sin embargo cuando no te gusta algo, simplemente no lo haces, o por último lo haces de mala gana, al final terminaría siendo un profesional frustado.
Es así que Gabriel decidió trasladarse a la ciudad fronteriza de Tulcán para comenzar una nueva carrera, a pesar de las negativas de su padre. Con el apoyo de su tío político optando por la carrera de Turismo en la UPEC.
El Turismo no era algo nuevo para Gabriel, ya que desde muy pequeño el viajaba con su padre a Colombia o Perú para transportar mercadería. Una vez cursando la carrera se dio cuenta que eso era lo que le gustaba, lo que en realidad le motivaba.
Educar mediante las experiencias de viaje
Después de culminar la carrera y de haber tenido varias experiencias laborales tanto el sector público como privado, él optó por empezar su carrera como docente en el área de inglés, siendo esta una de las mejores experiencias más bonitas, porque puede llegar a sus estudiantes con base a sus experiencias de viajes.
La educación va enfocada a eso, porque cuando tu viajas a cualquier destino, y quieres comunicarte con alguna persona, muy difícilmente lo haces en español, tienes que hacerlo en inglés, entonces en los estudiantes queda la necesidad de aprender el idioma con base a las experiencias de viaje, y en ellos proyecta el gusto por los viajes, para que traten de vivir al máximo, porque son experiencias bastante reveladoras y motivantes.
